Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have led to blackouts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were experienced blackouts and faced problems to water systems, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, according to local officials.

Russian forces has increased assaults on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "real steps" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 projectiles targeted energy facilities, characterizing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were striving to restore power.

A series of attacks hit energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to municipal representatives.
