For the Syrup: Put every ingredients into a pot, heat until it reaches a gentle boil, agitating so the sugar melts. Next, turn off the heat and let it to cool completely. Decant into an sealable bottle, seal and store in the fridge, where it will keep for about four weeks.
For the Cocktail Base: Mix all the liquids in a sizeable container, allow it to infuse for 60 minutes, then strain preferably using a fine cloth, so it's perfectly clear.
To serve: Pour 85ml of your batch mix into a stirring glass containing ice, and agitate carefully for one minute to cool it down. Pour to a chilled martini glass or equivalent, decorate with some cranberries and complete it by giving it a light spray with the mandarin essence above the glass.
