Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Police report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they added.
Officers then discovered many other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
A senior official stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
